In a continuous improvement culture everyone will spend time on process improvement daily. The time spent will vary per employee from 10 minutes to the entire day. Ownership of process improvement is often the key to success for organisations. The Lean Leader is the initiator of Lean implementation initiatives. In addition to extensive knowledge of the Lean improvement methods and tools, the Lean Leader is also a skilled change manager. In his role he has to make sure the Lean mindset is adopted from the shop floor to the boardroom. Whilst coaching colleagues, the Lean Leader will see to it Lean initiatives are in control and yield the desired results. The Lean Leader course The course is made up of a theoretical part and a practical part. The 5 days of theory consist of three days, covering Lean methods and tools (as in the Lean Practitioner course) and two additional days focussing on the Lean Management philosophy. The course meets all international standards and follows the ISO18404 standard which describes which competencies may be expected from a Lean Leader. Extensive attention will be paid to the 14 management principles of Toyota. These principles serve as a general guideline for managers who wish to successfully implement Lean. One of the principles requires Lean Leaders to build a learning and continuously improving organisation. In order to do this, specific management skills are necessary. Lean Leaders coach people on how to improve, rather than taking an authoritative top down approach. During the course, Lean tools and principles such as Kaizen, the 5 principles of Womack, Toyota Kata, the 7 types of waste and A3 project management will be addressed. Not sure yet?
